Design, Weaving

Early in the COVID quarantine I began looking for creative outlets to do that didn’t require collaboration and I could from home. I happened upon videos of Brendan Farren weaving bird houses and was inspired by the process. I ordered supplies and started weaving. I made bird houses. Dozens of them. I fell in love with the meditative quality of the craft and released my sense of control. I made mistakes, embraced them, and let these woven structures take on a life of their own. I made my own stains from beets, coffee and turmeric then coated each piece in acrylic resin to preserve the color.
